When receiving his award, Damson expressed his gratitude for the recognition, highlighting its significance to both him and his mother, who had traveled a considerable distance to support him.
Thank you, God,” he began. “My mother traveled all the way from Lagos, Nigeria – a 17-hour journey – to be here with me tonight.”
Damson playfully teased his mom by sharing, “Before she boarded the plane, she told me, ‘Damson, if I travel to Los Angeles, you better win.’
Her response to the amusing mention was delightful.
He expressed gratitude to the NAACP for “blessing him” along with his Snowfall colleagues, and then recognized all of his “heroes” who had previously won the award.
