Céline Dion admits she felt ‘extremely nervous’ while presenting a Grammy to Taylor Swift in February.
In an exclusive interview with People magazine, Dion — who has recently opened up about her struggles with stiff-person syndrome — reveals that presenting Taylor Swift with her fourth Album of the Year Award was a great honor, albeit nerve-wracking.
It was going to be my first time back at the Grammys, and I didn’t want to feel unstable. I knew I would be extremely nervous and thrilled simultaneously.
However, her anxiety ran deeper than mere stage fright — her condition could lead to a “crisis episode” if she became overstimulated.
“The applause,” she explains, “made me wonder, ‘Will seeing the audience trigger a shock?’ I didn’t want anything negative to happen.”
Yet, instead of distress, the applause fed her spirit. Dion reflects, “Feeling that love, I was certain that this is what I’ve missed and what I desire.
Dion has been increasingly transparent about her diagnosis lately, and on June 25, she will debut the documentary “I Am: Céline Dion.
