Céline Dion Talks About Her Struggle with Stiff-Person Syndrome in First TV Interview
In a preview of her interview with Hoda Kotb on “Today,” Dion shares her experience living with the condition.
Hoda asked Céline what happens to her voice when she sings. Céline said, “It’s like someone is strangling you.” She explained it felt like someone was pressing on her throat, making it hard to sing high or low notes. Pointing to her throat, she said, “It goes into a spasm,” and added, “It started here.” At first, she thought, “It will be fine.”
Previously, Hoda shared on “Today” that she had a rare conversation with Céline Dion, who hasn’t performed live in years due to a serious illness. Céline wondered if she would survive and discussed how the disease has affected her voice and the possibility of a comeback. Fans have missed her, and it was an emotional interview.
On June 11, fans can watch a preview on “Today” and a primetime special at 10 p.m. on NBC. The special will feature new footage from Céline’s upcoming Amazon documentary “I Am: Céline Dion,” premiering June 25. Watch the trailer below!
